Wayne Eldridge, DVM
Dr. Wayne Eldridge earned his undergraduate and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Texas A&M.
After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force Veterinary Corps where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
He is the founder of four veterinary hospitals and clinics in San Antonio including Eldridge Animal Hospital, Pets First Veterinary Center, The Pet Place Veterinary Clinic and Access Veterinary Care. He currently owns and operates House Calls For Pets in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Eldridge is licensed to practice veterinary medicine and surgery in the states of Texas and Utah.
Dr. Eldridge is the founder and owner of Pet Loss House Calls. This unique practice is dedicated to helping dogs and cats with terminal conditions to be with their loving family in the comfort and privacy of their own home during the final moments of life during pet euthanasia services.
He is a former Field Veterinarian for Veterinary Pet Insurance Company and has lectured at 15 of the 26 U.S. veterinary colleges and numerous veterinary medical associations across the country.
Dr. Eldridge is the inventor of the Eldridge Anesthesia Mask used worldwide by veterinarians to more safely and efficiently administer anesthesia to pets during surgery. He also invented the Eldridge Lab Loop, a laboratory collection device for dogs and cats.
He is an author and speaker on various topics pertaining to veterinary medicine and pets. His best-known publication, “The Best Pet Name Book Ever” (published by Barron’s Educational Series), is now in its fourth edition. He adopted his dog from the Humane Society, and her name is “Izzy.”
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. He has served as the Chairman of Continuing Education of the Veterinary Medical Association of Bexar County and is a former Director of the Emergency Pet Center in San Antonio.
